Well, not really magical, it’s really a land that is themed as “Displaced”. The people who live here are displaced from where they were. The people who come here, tourists, are definitely displaced. The things that people do here, have absolutely got nothing to do with the fact that this is tropical swamp land, can be categorized as displaced too. The shops that sells low quality and random crap has nothing to do with local representation, seems displaced too. The different themed dinners and performances such as Medieval Night and Arabian Night have absolutely got nothing to do with Orlando as well. So how did I feel being in Orlando? Displaced.
It’s a world wonder why Orlando attracts so many tourists. People don’t come here for something. They come here because they want to get away from their routine. So technically, Orlando isn’t really an “attraction”… right? It reminds me of those temporary cities in the desert where merchants from different parts of the desert come once a year to trade, then they disperse and go back to their homes. The place is therefore meaningful for the duration of that trade season. Orlando is kinda like that, except that it’s trade season all year round.
I cannot imagine living in Orlando. I probably cannot stand being around tourists, drive miles and miles and only seeing hotels after hotels, or cruise down the main strip filled with the world’s cheesiest shops and restaurants. Maybe there is much more to Orlando that I haven’t seen. I am very curious.
Above is a series of over-the-top cheesy architecture of restaurants and shops on the same street. It as almost like a stationary parade where it doesn't move, but the pedestrians do. It's a weird place indeed.
Very creepy van.
Drive-by shooting reported.
