ZOOOOO!!!!!

I am always excited to go to the zoo. Who isn't?

I don't like Bank of America, but I get free pass to a few places in Atlanta being their customer. One of which is the Atlanta Zoo.

In the previous entry about the Terracotta Soldiers, I mentioned about the "Chinese obligation". I fulfilled one by visiting the clay soldiers. Now I fulfilled another one by seeing the giant panda!

But I really think the giant panda is like Paris, over rated! They pretty much just roll around and do nothing. They don't even interact with their kid!

In Taiwan we joke about visiting the zoo is to go there to let the animals see you. Well, all I can say is that animals in the Atlanta zoo seems rather sad. It's not a big zoo and most of the enclosures are pretty small. Pretty much all of the animals appear to be lonely, lack of energy and motivation. It was in the morning so they can't be feeling sleepy. This is the one thing about zoos. They are essentially animal prisons.

Red Panda > giant panda!!!

more borden...

Of course there are the usuals.

Then came the human part

I like animals, but I don't really like the idea of keeping them enclosed so we can see them.

There's this video on the web of a gigantic water tank in Okinawa, claimed to be the second largest in the world. The video basically features the tank, which is like the size of an IMAX screes with big fish like whale sharks and stuffs swimming in it in a circle. Most people find it amazing, awed at its beauty. Humans get excited about their achievement, of being able to bring ocean life to human's artificial world so we can see it. Well, why not try something more challenging? Like being able to bring everyone into the deep ocean and see the fish in their home?

Now imagine a gigantic air block at the bottom of the sea with a bunch of naked humans running around in a circle. Who thinks the whales will give a damn? Me not.
