America @#$% yeah!!!!!

It's stars and stripes day again! A day when being rednecky is cool.

Even though the crowd was anticipated, and the idea of setting up a tripod in the crowd is a bit unappealing, I went to the fireworks anyways. There were many spots in the Atlanta area that were having fireworks events. I went to the one at Lenox Mall upon recommendation from a friend, and because he was going to be there too. I think the event would have been more interesting if I went to the one at Centennial Olympic Park for its size and people. The pre-show event at Lenox mall was held on its parking lot. There were food stands and live performance, but it wasn't really all that festive. People basically found a spot, sat down and waited for the fireworks hours before it started, so there wasn't really many interesting sightings.

So the moment came. I thought this was much better than the one at Detroit. They shut off the irritating parking lot lights right before the first fireworks was launched, so that was a rather nice entrance. There was also background soundtrack to go with the fireworks with a story to it. From the heroic founding father to the passionate JFK's famous quote,"Ask not what your country can do for you blah blah" to the American anthem. It was entertaining and well choreographed. The only bad thing was the environmental setting. There was really only one spot to view the fireworks. There was no interesting city scape around it for interesting compositions, so I wasn't able to capture "Atlanta" other than the Macy sign. If I am still here next year, I will definitely try the one in downtown.
